Additional Expenses for Trekkers

Additional Expenses for Trekkers in the Kanchenjunga Region

While our trekking package includes the main services, trekkers are advised to budget for some extra expenses that may arise during the journey. These are not included in the package and can vary based on your preferences and needs.

1. Permits and Entry Fees

Trekkers need to obtain a Restricted Area Permit and a Conservation Area Permit to enter the Kanchenjunga region. We will assist you in acquiring these permits during the trip preparation.

2. Domestic Transportation

The trek typically requires domestic flights and local ground transportation to reach the trailhead and return. This includes travel between Kathmandu, Bhadrapur, and Taplejung.

3. Personal Expenses on the Trail

During the trek, some teahouses may charge extra for services such as hot showers, battery charging, Wi-Fi, and snacks. These personal costs are not part of the trekking package.

4. Tipping

Tips for guides, porters, and support staff are customary in Nepal. While not mandatory, they are a way to show appreciation for their hard work.

5. Travel Insurance

All trekkers must have valid travel insurance that includes coverage for high-altitude trekking, accidents, illness, and emergency evacuation.

6. Trekking Gear

If you don’t already own proper trekking gear, you may need to rent or purchase essential items like sleeping bags, down jackets, and trekking poles before the trek.

7. Unforeseen Costs

Delays due to weather, personal health issues, or other unexpected events may lead to extra accommodation or transport needs that are not included in the standard itinerary.
